Karim One really has to thank Hermóðr for doing this split EP. I certainly didn't know Poems of the Elder before, but what an introduction it was! The surprisingly talented newcomer delivers Atmospheric Black Metal at it's best. Powerful, majestic and emotional soundscapes combine with crisp production and the iconic riff focussed Hermóðr style in the second half to an overall great record.

Un E.P. qui pourra largement diviser les fans, notamment ceux fermés d'esprit et qui refusent que Mesarthim puisse faire autre chose que du black metal atmosphérique. Presence est en effet l'œuvre dans laquelle le groupe profite le plus de la musique electro, notamment le new age (surtout sur "Eschaton Part I") voire même le synth pop sur le morceau éponyme ; black metal certes, mais une hybridation très prononcée. Si vous accrochez (comme moi), vous passerez clairement un bon moment ! Jordan Vauvert

NONE a opéré un virage dans Where Life Should Be et ça se confirme davantage dans Damp Chill of Life. Le temps des métaphores est révolu : l'humidité froide, c'est celle des larmes qui coulent sur le visage à cause de la dépression. Tout pleure dans cet album : les guitares typées DSBM grésillent, les solos ("The Damp Chill of Life", "It's Painless To Let Go") sont liquides et coulent, les voix prennent à la gorge ; même le piano, étranglé par les sanglots ("Cease"), est aphone. I was always intrigued by this group's choice of album covers, it isn't every day that you see high quality space photos in this genre despite the rise of "cosmic" black metal. But the music blew me away, this sounds like Austere took the atmospheric spacey route. (I will assume it's a coincidence that both bands are Australian) porcelainheart-
